The questions Captain Jaggery asked were designed to make her look bad to the crew. To "tighten the noose" means to get her to look like a murderer, to be held guilty, and to be hung.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Jason, he did that to make it seem like she was guilty and no matter what, his clever wording guaranteed her to be hung.
