Zachariah is the only one who can go to the authorities about the Captain, so Charlotte wanted to keep that plan alive. She sacrificed herself by not telling the Captain about Zachariah. Even though it practically costs her her life, she did a great honor in protecting Zachariah and the plan.

I agree with Kassidy, because Charlotte kept a secret from the Captain Jaggery, which obviously Keetch couldn't do. She saved Zachariah in her own way and in Zachariah's own way because he said those words to her, even though Captain Jag knew he was hiding in the hold.
