I believe that it will not be as well as expected. Her father will probably be angry for her preaching out against Jaggery, and will be horrified if he finds out that his "civilized and proper" daughter became a sailor, which at the time was extremely unusual for the daughter of a wealthy businessman of his stature.
When Charlotte returns home, she will definitely not get what she expected. I think that Charlotte thinks that she will run and hug her father and other family members and then go back to their house. Once there, there will be a HUGE celebration and she will be able to tell everyone what happened, and everyone will believe her and then go on in life as usual. This will not happen because I think that her fatherland everyone else will be very disappointed in her because I stead of acting the proper way she was brought up, she went and acted like an idiot and almost killed herself a million and one times! If that does not happen, then Charlotte will get off of the ship and greet everyone, then go to the house and have a party and all, and then, when she tries to tell everyone what happened, no one will believe her and she will become very upset. This will happen because it sound so unnatural, as Captain Jaggery puts it, that it is not right for her to do that. I may be correct, but I may also be wrong.
The moment Charlotte comes home, she will get what she expected because her family doesn't know anything that happened. They still think that Captain Jaggery is the captain of the ship and he was the one who brought her home. The only thing they might question is why she has short hair, wearing sailor's clothes, and what happened on the ship. I believe she will explain and he parents will be shocked but after that they will see that she did whatever she did for a reason.
When Charlotte returns home, she SHOULD have a huge celebration and that probably WONT happen, like Adina said. Her parents will be very dissappointed because she had not acted like the lady that she really is and basically killed herself about a million times on the ship. Also, she may return home and have. Party and all, but she will trey and tell her family the story about when she was on the ship and they either will believe her and go on wil her life, or PRETEND they believe her and go one with life without telling her or anyone else EVER again.
Mr. Doyle will probably be horrified at what his nice, civilized daughter has turned into and wonder how her girl could have possibly gone from inexperienced schoolgirl to captain of a large sea vessel.
I think that it will be hard on Charlotte to adjust because she is used to getting stuff herself and dirtiness because the ship was like that and Charlotte adjusted well to it. I think that shebwill misss the ship and the crew.
I think that Charlotte's homecoming will be very awkward, I mean she had been out on the Seahawk with no other girls and no body to play with. She had become apart of the crew and started to wear dirty boylike clothes, when normally she would be wearing girly clothes. Plus she most likely act like a boy more I would think because she had been around most of them 24/7. She had witnessed murders and done insanely crazy things that she would have not regularly done. Charlotte is more of a changed girl now, she isn't the princess she used to be. I think she will act more different around the house now because she is kind of used to being a slob. I also think that her and her dad will have some issues that they will soon work out.
I agree with Adina, Charlotte will expect a huge homecoming where everyone is just so excited to see her but her family will be disappointed. She went against everything her father had taught her and I don't think he will be too happy.
I think it would be a huge attitude shock when she's been on a rough and dirty ship and she's going into a rich, fancy, clean, proper enviorment and her demeanor is really different and there will be alot of questions asked.

ReplyDeleteRyan, what do you think, say, Charlotte's teacher, Mrs. Weed, would think of Charlotte becoming a sailor?
